What is a split sheet and when do I need one?

Royalties & publishing

A split sheet records who wrote what percentage of a song, signed by every writer. You need one for every co-written song, ideally signed the day it's written — it's what prevents royalty disputes later.

Every registration you file — PRO, MLC, publishing admin — asks for ownership percentages. Without a signed sheet, those numbers are whatever memory and friendship say they are, and both degrade the moment money shows up.

Musavise's catalog includes split-sheet e-signing: set percentages per writer, send each co-writer a signing link, and the sheet is complete when shares sum to 100% and everyone has signed. Printable, exportable, and attached to the song forever.
